A stunning resort located amongst the rolling hills of the Menfi Vineyard, for those in search of a holiday showcasing the best of Sicily, La Foresteria is the perfect find.

Intricately blending exquisite wine, food, sun, sea, countryside and wonderful panoramas, La Foresteria offers an individual, boutique holiday experience. Relaxation comes especially easy to visitors here, most notably in the form of the hotel’s infinity pool, which overlooks the sprawling vineyards owned by the Planeta Estate.

The most important factor at this hotel is of course, the delicious wine. Owned by the Planeta Estate for 17 generations, the vineyard produces a variety of different wines, offering tasting sessions so you can experience the very best of what Planeta has to offer. And, as good wine comes hand-in-hand with good food, you won’t be disappointed in what La Foresteria serves up. Using fresh ingredients from the island’s top producers, you’ll enjoy contemporary Sicilian cuisine, paired with superb Sicilian wine and glorious surroundings.

Not only can you sample the delicious cuisine, but the property also offers daily cooking classes with head chef Angelo Pumilia, where you can watch, or get stuck into learning how to cook traditional Sicilian recipes.
With just 14, individually decorated guest rooms, enjoying a glass of your favourite wine on your private terrace is a wonderful pastime, where you’ll catch a glimpse of the glistening ocean in the distance.

Finally, if you can tear yourself away from the splendour of the hotel grounds, you’ll discover the beach of Porto Palo just a few minutes’ drive away, where not only are there golden sands to relax upon, but it’s also a nesting site for protected loggerhead turtles. La Foresteria also offers an olive oil experience close by in Capparrina, where you can enjoy olive oil tasting and themed cooking classes amongst the impressive 98-hectare olive grove.

About the Local Area

Set inland from the coast, Arzachena is a bustling market town with plenty of shops and services available. At the centre of town lies the Piazza Risorgimeto, a lively square surrounded by restaurants and bars. The area offers several hidden treasures including mysterious nuraghe (stone towers) ruins and giant tombs, arguably the best of their kind in Sardinia as well as some of the most attractive beaches.

Tanca Manna
Tanca Manna sits approximately 250 metres from the road behind a saltwater lake. It has a great stretch of sand and plenty of facilities for families. A kilometre beyond Tanca Manna is Barca Bruciata, a small sandy beach which is quiet with no facilities.

Cala Capra
Cala Capra beach just beyond Golfo delle Saline is a pretty sandy bay tucked beneath the impressive Capo D’Orso headland with its distinctive bear shaped weathered rock.

The Capriccioli headland has five beautiful small sandy beaches. There are facilities for boat hire and also a bar close to the beach. These beaches, including La Celvia, are amongst the most popular in the area.

Spiaggia del Principe
Rather off the beaten track is the Spiaggia del Principe which cannot be reached by car. The last stretch has to be done on foot takes under 10 minutes and is well worth the effort.

Pevero Golf Course
Considered amongst the best in Europe, Pevero is an 18-hole course located near Capriccioli. The course is prized for its beauty with natural ponds amidst the rocks, fragrant juniper, myrtle and arbutus trees and stunning sea views.

Explore by car or on foot the dramatic mountains of the interior, the rugged countryside and the small character towns and villages. Alternatively, leave your car in Palau and take the stream train to Tempio Pausania, a spectacular journey across the Galluran countryside.

Sample traditional Sardinian cuisine in a farm restaurant. Amongst others, we recommend the Agriturismi Tenuta Pilastru, la Sasima or la Somara, all located near Arzachena.
