Sicily Weather in August

August also experiences an average high of 30 degrees, though during this month the beach resorts are even more crowded and the heat can be oppressive, but there are still quiet stretches of coast that remain virtually deserted and the cooler, higher, interior of the island remains a pleasant escape route. The weather in bigger cities such as Palermo can be almost unbearably hot, so it is worth saving the likes of the capital, Catania and Modica for the spring or autumn.

Sicily Weather in September

During September in Sicily, the climate sees a small drop in temperature though the sea remains delightfully warm and the crowds begin to disperse. An average high of 28 degrees ensures it is still time for soaking up the sun and cooling off in the sea, and apart from the occasional coastal storm, the weather is lovely. September is also a great time for getting away from the sand, especially in San Vito Lo Capo, where the famous and popular Cous Cous Festival takes place across a five-day culinary feast.

Sicily Weather in October

The Sicily weather in October is still pleasant, despite a drop in the temperature, with average highs tending to stick around the mid-20s. Sunshine hours decrease however, and it is rare to spend the majority of your October holiday in Sicily lazing on the beach. Others will relish the decreased temperatures and take the opportunity to explore some of the island's fascinating cities in a more comfortable climate. Palermo is an obvious place to start, while others will be drawn to the south-east and Sicily's remarkable Baroque cities such as Modica, Noto and Ragusa.

Sicily Weather in November

In November the days shorten, the temperature drops and the rain becomes more frequent. Days are nonetheless comfortably warm but the nights are chilly. With the crowds long gone it’s a fabulous time to visit the island’s famous sites such as the ancient sites at the Valley of the Temples. It gets noticeably wetter throughout autumn although even in early November the temperatures can still rise to the mid-twenties in the middle of the day.

Sicily Weather in December

December welcomes the winter months to Sicily, and while some days are still pleasantly warm until the middle of the month, the general theme of the weather in this period is cold, wet and short. it is considerably colder at higher altitudes, as well as at night, with some snow falling on the mountain peaks, meaning that outdoor exploration is perhaps out of the question. A holiday to Sicily in December does, however, allow the opportunity to experience Christmas celebrations on the island; a truly memorable experience.

Sicily Weather in January

The cold, wet and short days continue in January, with the lowest of Sicily's temperatures experienced this month. Incredibly, from January, skiing is possible on Mount Etna, Monte Mufara and the Madonie, while at the same time many coastal resorts, on the other hand, are completely closed down.

Sicily Weather in February

February reflects the same weather conditions as January; wet, cold and short, though the end of the month will begin to welcome better conditions. Coastal retreats are effectively out of the question during February, though the decrease in tourism crowds can be of benefit for those hoping to explore the cities, towns and villages of the island, in search of a cultural and historical experience rather than one of sun, sand and sea.
