Our Sales Consultant, Carla, was fortunate enough to be invited to stay at, and experience, the incredible 5-star Verdura Resort - this was her experience.

Verdura Resort, a Rocco Forte Hotel, located in Sciacca in the south of Sicily, is arguably our most impressive and rewarding hotel, boasting everything from mesmerising splendour to a stunning array of facilities. Each guest that books a stay at Verdura Resort can expect everything from top-class facilities and superb service, to an incredible location and plenty of relaxation, entertainment and indulgence.

Carla, from our Reservations team, was recently fortunate enough to be invited to stay at Verdura Resort and experience its grandeur and incredible range of facilities first-hand. Rather than keep her wonderful experience to herself, Carla thought she'd share her stay at Verdura with you, giving you as big an insight as possible into what a stay at this 5-star resort would entail.

Carla's Verdura Resort experience

"The first thing that I noticed about Verdura was how the pictures actually do not do this hotel justice! It really is nestled away on its own, surrounded by the coast and the resort's golf courses, it really is stunning. Yet the charming town of Sciacca is only a 20-minute drive away, a seaside town renowned for its ceramics and home to some really good restaurants, a perfect day trip for guests. I also immediately loved how this was a luxurious resort, yet it had such a relaxed feel. Due to space around the resort, you still didn’t really see many people throughout the day, and meanwhile, the staff were incredibly attentive and nothing was too much trouble.

The trip to Sicily was put on by Verdura in order for us to experience the resort first-hand. The resort is spread over 230 hectares and enjoys 2km of private beach as well as two championship golf courses plus a 9-hole course. There was also the first-class spa and facilities to enjoy too, so enough to get on with! Food is another big part of staying at Verdura, with its four amazing restaurants and five bars - I ate very well for the three days I stayed at the resort! In fact, I even managed to take part in a pastry class during my stay which was so much fun! We made a cassata siciliana which is a well-known cake in Sicily, famous for its sweet ricotta cheese, marzipan and candied fruits.

One of the other top experiences during my stay was the resort's incredible spa. The spa has been voted by Conde Nast as one of the top spas in Europe in the past, and it is easy to see why. It is set amongst olive groves and boasts the likes of thalassotherapy spa pools, a sauna, steam rooms and mood showers, and also offers yoga and pilates classes. In fact, I found out that the hotel abides by five health-focused programmes, Fit, Slim, Detox, Anti-age and Relax. They also have a health snack bar to complement the treatments, with some tasty health foods and smoothies available to guests.

For any families that book a stay at Verdura, they will find that the resort is perfect for children. I noticed a great range of activities that were being put on by the fantastic kids' club, offering everything from cooking classes and sports academies to the amazing Juventus Football Club training experience. It really is a real treat for kids.

I can't forget to mention my room! It was amazing! I ended up with a Grand Suite which had its own courtyard with a lemon tree in it. There was also a nice big lounge with a TV, Wi-Fi throughout, in-house movies, various other mod-cons and even a little kitchen area. I also enjoyed a huge terrace with amazing views over the golf course and the sea, as well as a hammock and two outdoor seating areas.

Verdura offers a range of excursions to guests who fancy getting out and about to see the surrounding area. One of the most popular excursions is one to Planeta Wines, and I was fortunate enough to squeeze it into my itinerary. I visited the winery and was able to taste some delicious local wines. Afterwards I learnt that you can enjoy a variety of excursions to the winery, whether it be a wine visit, a visit with lunch, a visit with dinner or for a sunset aperitif.

Amongst all of this indulgence and adventure, the biggest highlight from my trip has to be the golf lesson I received. We had an hour's session with Verdura's pro golfer, Tom, and his team, all of whom were really nice and patient. I actually managed to hit the ball 150 yards, and I've never played golf before, so now I want to take it up! It was another tick in the box next to the resort. In fact, the resort was recently host to the Sicilian Open, or Rocco Forte Open; a real achievement for Verdura.

The whole stay was fantastic, and the final thing that caught my eye came on the day I was leaving as I was waiting in reception. A family was leaving and the man at reception was saying his goodbyes, but he was down at the kid's level. The kids were caught on his every word, and hugging him. It was that bond with that family after their stay that was actually quite touching, something that the family will remember - the attention to detail for their guests is second to none."
